Instructions

The Cry Translator deciphers an infant’s cry and illuminates one of five icons, each corresponding to a distinct physiological or emotional state: hungry, sleepy, annoyed, stressed or simply bored.

This instant confirmation of the child’s emotional state allows the parent/caregiver to respond appropriately and quickly. The Cry Translator also provides suggestions to calm the baby based on any of the five states the child is experiencing.

To begin translation, hold the device near the baby when he/she cries and touch the “Start” button.

In less than ten seconds a response will be given, relating to one of a number of states: hungry, sleepy, annoyed, stressed or bored.

Touch the central area of the screen or the appropriate icon for common tips to soothe that particular type of crying.

Useful Tips

1. The operation of the Cry Translator is based on the analysis of an infant’s cry. For best results, keep background noise to a minimum.

2. Do not block the microphone or hold it less than one foot from the baby.

3. If the device is placed too far from the baby or if significant background noise exists, you will receive an on-screen message to try the translation again.

4. Parents and caregivers should obtain medical advice if they are worried about their infants’ health or excessive crying.
